Descher offers industrial and engineering services to new and existing clients, ranging from design & documentation projects to equipment troubleshooting, retrofits, and facilities support. Our engineers and service personnel can also be available for emergency support, and contracting arrangements are available to suit client needs. Whether you may require adjunct staff to augment a current project team or site support for retrofits and process optimization, Descher Automation is ready to help.
At Descher Automation, we can take the lead on ground-up custom designs, or we can integrate with an onsite staff by providing a-la-carte CAD services. Our team's knowledge of mechatronic systems allows design flexibility from simple jigs and fixtures to complex kinematic assemblies. In addition, our machine-building experience is brought to bear as we design for manufacturability, and every component is specified to form, fit, and function. Whether designing from a client's napkin-sketch or shop-detailing a customer’s completed assembly model, Descher delivers comprehensive engineering work-product ready for delivery to machine shops and build teams.
Descher’s extensive suite of machine programming capabilities are provided as either standalone services or value-add components in a comprehensive OEM setting. Core competencies include PLC/PAC/HMI systems across a range of hardware platforms, PC controls and data acquisition, and embedded systems development. Whether your project requires a software partner for the design of new capital projects, R&D and product development, or you simply need to upgrade existing equipment, Descher can offer the needed expertise and an intuitive, flexible user interface
Descher Automation also offers onsite assistance, on a contract or retainer basis, to companies with a shortage of in-house programming resources. Troubleshooting, retrofits, and line bring-ups are typical customer needs, and we have a long track record of successfully helping clients roll-up the internal projects which may be overloading their technical staff. Call to discuss the possibilities for control upgrades, machine vision, and data acquisition of your automated equipment.
Our in-house, full-service machine shop is staffed by experienced machinists, fabricators, and technicians committed to producing quality parts and tools. Supported by the CAD and Engineering teams, Descher’s shop capabilities include CNC and conventional milling, turning, and grinding, as well as MIG/TIG welding and medium-duty sheet metal fabrication. From basic parts to tight-tolerance complex geometries in most engineering materials, we specialize in one-offs, prototypes, and limited production runs with competitive pricing and rapid turnaround.
Primarily geared toward initial production runs and intermittent JIT builds, Descher Automation also provides contract manufacturing services for a variety of products and sub-assemblies, typically on unit orders of fewer than 1000 pieces. For recurring orders, we can offer materials and component storage with strict inventory control, as well as custom packing and order filling where required.
Functioning as a subset of our contract manufacturing service, Descher's panel shop fabricates electrical and pneumatic control enclosures as standalone deliverables or as critical components in larger integration projects. Working from spec or building to our own designs, the Descher team delivers neatly trimmed and dressed panels to NEMA/NFPA standards. On many projects involving a programmatic control component, such as a PLC/PAC or HMI/GUI, Descher will provide value-added service through its programming and control group.
Descher Automation offers a range of site support services to our clients, both on a service-call and maintenance agreement basis. From troubleshooting and debugging existing machines to software upgrades and new equipment installs, the Descher staff can work independently or in conjunction with the clients’ technical team as required. We are also able to help our customers in situations where another machine-builder has discontinued service or OEM documentation is no longer available.
The engineers at Descher have successfully implemented retrofits and upgrades on many such machines, both large and small. Although the clients who initiate these projects sometimes know exactly what they want, we are just as comfortable brainstorming with the client's staff to create a consensus approach.
